Developing Entrepreneurship Training Package and Preparing Select Training Service Providers (TSPs)

Action for Development (AfD) has successfully conducted an assignment for Aasman Nepal under the project "Developing Entrepreneurship Training Package and Preparing Select Training Service Providers (TSPs) Project ‘Step Up,’" funded by Swisscontact. This initiative took place in the Biratnagar and Itahari District Economic Corridor, with the project unfolding in two well-structured phases, focusing on the development and dissemination of entrepreneurial skills.
Phase 1: Development of Entrepreneurship Training Manual and Curriculum
In the first phase, AfD was dedicated to creating a comprehensive Entrepreneurship Training Manual and Curriculum. This curriculum was meticulously designed to equip aspiring entrepreneurs with the essential skills and knowledge needed to initiate and sustain successful businesses. The curriculum encompassed critical areas such as business planning, market analysis, financial management, and sustainable business practices. It aimed to provide a robust foundation for emerging entrepreneurs, ensuring they were well-prepared to navigate the complexities of the business world.
The curriculum was enriched with practical insights and real-world examples, making it highly relevant and easily understandable for the participants. By addressing the core aspects of entrepreneurship, the manual served as a crucial resource for those looking to start their own ventures, helping them to develop viable business plans, understand market dynamics, manage finances effectively, and adopt sustainable practices.
Phase 2: Training of Trainers (TOT) Program
The second phase focused on the Training of Trainers (TOT) Program for the designated staff of three select Training Service Providers (TSPs). The TOT program was designed to ensure that these trainers were well-equipped to deliver the newly developed entrepreneurial training to local beneficiaries. The curriculum for the TOT program was based on the Start and Improve Your Business (SIYB) methodology, a proven framework developed by the International Labour Organization (ILO). The SIYB curriculum is widely recognized for its effectiveness in enhancing entrepreneurial skills and fostering business growth.
During the TOT sessions, trainers were not only introduced to the entrepreneurship curriculum but also trained in effective teaching methodologies. The program emphasized interactive learning, case studies, and practical exercises to ensure that the trainers could convey the concepts effectively to our trainees. The SIYB framework was instrumental in this process, providing a structured approach to business training that could be easily replicated and scaled.
The successful completion of this assignment by AfD stands as a testament to our professionalism, expertise, and dedication. Our efforts have significantly contributed to enhancing the entrepreneurial skills of local communities and the capacity building of Training Service Providers in the Biratnagar and Itahari Economic Corridor. By equipping trainers with the necessary tools and knowledge, AfD has ensured the sustainability and long-term impact of this initiative, fostering a new generation of skilled entrepreneurs ready to contribute to the economic growth of their regions.
